PowerSchool data breach update

Hello Tri-Center families,

At the end of 2024, PowerSchool was impacted by a data breach that impacted many customers. As a PowerSchool customer, Tri-Center has been working to see if we are one of the customers affected by the data breach.

After several phone calls and communication with our PowerSchool representatives, we have been told that Tri-Center was NOT a customer compromised by the data breach. However, they have told us that some individuals tied to our PowerSchool account may be tied to OTHER organizations that have connections to PowerSchool (previous school, other educational services, etc.). Some of our staff, students, and families may have already or will be receiving emails offering free credit monitoring services from Experian.

PowerSchool security breach emails are being sent to district staff, students, and parents. These emails are coming directly from Experian and provide information on signing up for complimentary credit monitoring services. The emails will likely be sent from the following address: ps-sis-incident@mail1.csid.com.

We understand that some recipients have been concerned about the legitimacy of these emails. Please rest assured that they are not a phishing attempt. You can verify their authenticity by reviewing the information PowerSchool has published on their SIS Incident page:

https://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach/

Recipients can sign up for credit monitoring services using the links provided in the email or by visiting the SIS Incident page.

If you received an email from PowerSchool recently offering this credit protection, it is a valid email if it fits the criteria stated above and you are eligible to receive the services offered for two years free of charge.

If you did not receive an email from PowerSchool recently offering this credit protection, no additional action is required as Tri-Center was not part of the data breach.

Thank you.
